HISTORY

The Metal Shop is one man’s vision that turned reality.

The Metal Shop was one man’s vision that turned reality. Rick Disharoon, a Delmar, MD native, has always been excited and fascinated with 4x4 vehicles, fabrication, and mechanics. After he attended vocational school and then served our country in the United States Air Force, where he furthered his education with air frame repair.

After many years as a repair man, mechanic, welder, and fabricator for a logging company, he and his wife ventured out on their own. Hence in 2007 The Metal Shop was born; just one man and his 16-year-old son, Ryan Disharoon. Their focus was 4x4’s, roll cages, bumpers, lift kits and small custom fabrication jobs. By 2009 the company was able to add Ryan on full-time to payroll and the rest is history. As this one man, Rick Disharoon, his wife Sherry, son Ryan Disharoon, and now his daughter Jaclyn have grown a small business into a world-wide known name. With amazing clients like Perdue Farms, Case Farms, Felds Motorsports, Jolly Rogers Amusement Parks, many independent racing teams, state & local municipalities, and so many more customers that make us a one stop go to shop.

In 2018, a new look, location and facility as the company built a new shop that is now a landmark on the main corridor RT 13 on the Maryland and Delaware line. The company is specializing in vehicle modifications, monster trucks, poultry equipment, machining and driveline. In 2007 The Metal Shop was born by just one man with the support of his wife and the help of his 16-year-old son, Ryan Disharoon, in a small 2-car garage. They started out with a focus on 4x4’s, roll cages, bumpers, lift kits and small custom fabrication jobs, but that was just the beginning.

As their talents grew, their company consistently outgrew their facilities. Finally in 2018, they landed at a location that has room to grow and is a reflection of the craftsmanship they provide. With this compound, they were able to diversify themselves between three buildings. The Off-road & Speed division is two buildings comprised of a speed shop and an automotive installation shop run by Rick’s daughter, Jaclyn Disharoon Cooper. The custom fabrication shop is run by Ryan Disharoon, who is also our lead designer and innovator. Each one of these divisions requires highly skilled labor making it impossible to talk about The Metal Shop’s growth and quality without recognizing the diehard employees that have been the backbone of our business.
